Making the rounds lately on the intertubes, here's an update on queer related news:
- Waiting for Obama to respond to Maine's Question 1 and Washington State's Referendum 71, both about allowing/denying same-sex marriages? He did speak out against (and in support of same-sex marriage), although he failed to mention either state by name.
- The execution of gays (especially gay men) continues in the Middle East, this time in Iran.
- The daily show gives away the secrets of the radical homosexual agenda.
- Surprisingly, the opposition was at a loss for words on how, exactly, gay marriage damages hetero-marriage. Oh, and--tee hee--it happened in front of a federal judge. The case will be heard in front of a federal court early 2010 to overturn Prop 8.
- Virginia Gubernatorial hopeful, Bob McDonnell reaffirms his anti-gay stance. If elected he promises he'll let the anti-discrimination order expire in the state.
- A Ugandan bill, titled "Anti Homosexuality Bill 2009" proposes to punish "aggravated homosexuality" (when the victim is a person with disability or below the age of 18, or when the offender is HIV-positive) by death. The bill was tabled by another representative.
- The vote in Maine is going to be super close...with it virtually tied in the weeks before the vote on same-sex marriage in that state.
- Remember that super exciting, first-of-its-kind 31% success rate in the AIDS Vaccine trail reported weeks back? Devastatingly, it might have been a fluke. There are calls for independent reviews of the data.
- With October 11 as National Coming Out day, there is plenty of time to get your cards ready for friends and family for next year. Also, this straight-but-supportive greeting card guy has some excellent ideas...
