Everyone needs a sassy gay friend!

So this rainy, gray, lazy Sunday is a great time to share my recent favorite videos going around the gay intertubes.

Here's what would have happened differently if Juliet had a sassy-gay-friend:

...and Ophelia (from Hamlet):

...and Desdemona (from Othello):

Any favorite lines from these? Do you have a sassy gay friend? Are *you* the sassy gay friend?

Judy Garland's "A Star is Born" this Fri @ historic Empress in Vallejo

Neighboring Vallejo's historic and beautiful Empress Theater is having a special showing and especially inviting all us friends of Dorothy:
A Star Is Born (1954)
Classics: Movies That Moved The World

New York Times called the film "one of the grandest heartbreak dramas that has drenched the screen" and said Judy Garland "gives what is just about the greatest one-woman show in modern movie history." Meanwhile Newsweek said the film is "a thrilling personal triumph for Judy Garland...as a singer she can handle anything from torch songs and blues to ballads. In more ways than one, the picture is hers."

The evening also features live music from Shima, Amos Carter & More and refreshment from the Empress bars.

Boyband of christian hotties coming to Napa's Opera House April 11, 2 for 1 tickets

Even though it came in the mail sometime before Thanksgiving, the Opera House's schedule of Spring shows has been sitting on my desk in a pile of junk mail. A few things had caught my eye that I had since forgotten about, but a recent email alerted me to a 2 for 1 deal on a show coming up next weekend: Altar Boyz
The Napa Valley Opera House is offering TWO for ONE Tickets to Altar Boyz on Saturday, April 11th!

"Altar Boyz is the hilarious story of a struggling Christian boy band from Ohio. It equally lampoons the quintessential boy band and modern religion with its mix of cleverly written songs and bouncy dance moves. Join Matthew, the band’s lead hottie; Mark, the sweet and sensitive choreographer; Luke, the bad boy with a weakness for communion wine; Juan, the Latin lover; and Abraham, the rogue Jewish boy, as they serenade and preach their way through comedic numbers like “La Vida Eternal” and “Girl, You Make Me Wanna Wait.” Altar Boyz is the winner of the 2005 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical and was nominated for seven Drama Desk Awards including Best Music, Best Lyrics, Best Book and Best Musical."

You can check out the original cast recording on CD or MP3. If you buy it through either of those links, the Napa Valley Unity League will earn a commission from Amazon.com!
  • In order to receive the two-for-one deal, just call the box office at 707.226.7372 or buy your tickets in person at the Napa Valley Opera House (1030 Main Street in Napa) and tell the ticket agent to use the code: "Boy Band."
  • This deal is only available for ticket purchases by phone or in person. They are not able to offer this through their website.
Among other cuties and a hilarious plot, at times the Altar Boyz cast has included one of my favorites, Neil Haskell of "So You Think You Can Dance".
