Free river festival, symphony today in downtown Napa

The new amphitheater and park really do an amazing job of connecting the river with the downtown. I'm sure the park will be packed and there'll be families and pets and food stands and general "street festival madness", but this end of summer River celebration is usually a great time. Music, fireworks, food...now if only the gays had some sort of distinguishing symbol (earring in your right ear, anyone?) so we could recognize each other more readily mixed in with all the heteros. My gaydar sometimes gets jammed with so many people around. *wink*

  1. By the way, a *great* place to catch the fireworks is in front of the construction near the Napa Mill... Take the "river walk" on the river side of Veteran's Park down under 3rd street and right in front of the new buildings going in you can see the fireworks. It was relatively uncrowded on the 4th of July.

  2. I was there with my partner and his roommate and it wasn't the typical large crown we see on the 4th of July. It was fun though, the symphony played some great classics and some popular ones such as the theme to the James Bond movies. They even timed it perfectly and played while the fireworks show.
