NY to recognize out-of-state same-sex marriages

From a directive issued on May 14, it seems that New York will begin recognizing same-sex marriages from out-of-state and offering all the benefits that come with:
Gov. David Paterson has directed all state agencies to begin to revise their policies and regulations to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other jurisdictions, such as Massachusetts, California and Canada. [SFGate.com]
Also, because California's marriage laws do not require residency in the state (like Massachusetts), there is sure to be some "traveling" with these changes in play. A couple could get married in Napa on vacation and then head home to their home-state and contest the inequality of recognition (if they lived in, perhaps, Arizona) or even move to New York and have it fully recognized (with no weddings offered there, but full recognition granted).

This is what conservatives fear (and had predicted)...that eventually many more states will follow and then in each state begin pushing their own laws. God help them if the colors start changing on this map! I'm sure they are worried, but I, on the other hand, am very excited.

How long before Federal law changes (that's what's holding back Immigration & Federal Tax benefits and rights)? I just hope that the support continues to grow (instead of all this change talk freaking people out and then changing the tides to go against equality).
