Time to interrupt the dyeing of eggs to bring you these bits of queer news goodness from around the inter-tubes:
- This year the President invited gay families to the White House's Easter Egg Roll on purpose (we didn't have to crash the party like last year), with a specific outreach through LGBT organizations.
- NOM (the National Orgazniation for Marriage)--the same group who brought us the twisted and fear-based "Gathering Storm" ad that we shared this last week--is becoming more of a laughing stock as, first: HRC debunked the lies and the audition tapes were found, second: remixes of their ad are being created and shared all over the place, and now this: they want their "movement" to be called 2M4M (no, not what you think), they mean 2 million for marriage
- Jon Stewart and the Daily Show celebrated equality wins in Iowa and Vermont. Hilarious!
- CNN also spoke of the building same-sex marriage momentum this week in Iowa and Vermont, and equality decisions pending in 9 other legislatures
- Adidas launched an ad campaign and site featuring New Zealand Rugby stars stripping and swapping shirts. Pretty tasty for those who like that kind of thing.
- Nate Silver, the lovable stats nerd who correctly predicted the Presidential election, now has crunched the numbers on when States will reach the tipping point with--and this is a slight twist--when same-sex marriage bans would fail.
- Recently baptized Catholic "Tony Blair, has challenged the “entrenched” attitudes of the Pope on homosexuality, and argued that it is time for him to “rethink” his views."
- Both left and right wing (and many in the middle) are crying foul on Pastor Rick Warren, who now is claiming (in spite of his proclamations during the campaign season) that he was never against gays or gay marriage.
- "Out" magazine thinks it's perfectly acceptable to celebrate powerful, closeted people in their "Annual Power 50" list. Yes, in OUT magazine--celebrating closeted people: I'm confused. Anderson Cooper, Matt Drudge and Barry Diller are named.
