Laramie Project October 19 @ Opera House

Ten years ago, Matthew Shephard was brutually murdered in Laramie, Wyoming. As Joe.My.God. and Towleroad point out, it has been 10 years and Wyoming still has no hate crimes law. Perfect timing for this production by Napa Valley College's Dramatic Arts Department, to be hosted at the Napa Opera House, next Sunday, October 19:
The Laramie Project tells the story of how the town of Laramie, Wyoming reacted to the brutal murder of college student Matthew Shepard in October of 1998. This production is only one of two in the United States at which Judy Shepard, Matthew's mother, will be making an appearance and speaking about this very special 10th year observance of her son's murder. Napa Valley College Drama Professor, Jennifer King said, "Our community is honored to have Mrs. Shepard back in the Napa Valley to join us for this special event." Napa Valley College presented the full play in October of 2002 and several of the original cast members will take part in this reading. Several local celebrities will take part in the reading. A "talk-back" will the audience and cast members will take place immediately following the production facilitated by Greg Miraglia, a dean at Napa Valley College and member of the Matthew Shepard Foundation board. All proceeds will go to benefit the Napa Valley College Dramatic Arts Department and Matthew Shepard Foundation. Your purchase is tax deductible as a donation to a 501(3)(c) non-profit organization.
Recently, Matthew Shephard's mother (who will be at the Opera House for the reading) appeared on CBS:
