- The Alabama House, on Friday, passed one bill that added sexual orientation to the list of protected classes from hate crimes and on the same day passed a bill praising Miss California, Carrie Prejean for sticking to her conviction in her now infamous answer to the pageant question about same-sex marriage.
- During a speech at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, President Obama condemned homophobia as one in a list of "hatred[s] that degrade its victim and diminish us all."
