Sorry, it's been more than a week--I know--I've been busy with work and events and such and the queer news has been piling up. Here's the latest that's caught my attention from around the nets:
- John Legend listeners smarter than Beyonce (or, why I'm dummer for preferring Dashboard Confessional over Counting Crows). Study: Music that Makes You Dumb.
- Judge Judy on Larry King about Prop 8 and gay adoption, "[It] was equally an affront to both common sense and in what I know in my role as an old family court judge for 25 years is not in the best interest of children."
- Upland, CA yogurt shop cancels GSA fundraiser after preemptive complaints from customers.
- More and more gay collegiate athletes are coming out--not that it's easy.
- Congressman Frank calls US Supreme Court Justice Scalia a homophobe.
- Webster redefines marriage to include same-sex couples...in 2003.
- WTF? Pope says condom distribution will fuel AIDS epidemic. You know, cuz condoms = promiscuity = more transmission.
- There has been a rise in anti-gay hate crimes in California, linked to Proposition 8.
- School Principal in Peoria, AZ tells 14 year-old to hide his rainbow bracelet because it is offensive. Yes, the ACLU is on the case to defend his rainbow rights.
- Denmark gives gays equal adoption rights.
- 2009 Lamda Literary nominations are out (yes, pun intended.
- England's out, gay, soccer player Xisco isn't really out, yet, kind-of; but he's smooching boys and looking good.
