More Napa Pride info for 2009, planning beginning now

Here's more from The Fruit's inbox on Napa Pride for this year and yes (yes!) there's plans for a parade. The date of Napa Pride 2009 is Saturday, June 20:
Napa Valley Pride will return this year and promises to be more amazing than ever!

Here's what's already in the planning stages:
  • A parade through downtown Napa on Saturday morning
  • A picnic for young and old, family and friends at a local park Saturday afternoon
  • A "Twilight T-Dance" hosted by Beringer Vineyards in St. Helena Saturday evening and featuring DJ Rotten Robbie
It promises to be a terrific weekend . . . but only with your help!

Here's how:
  • Reserve Monday, March 30, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm for a planning meeting. We'll talk about what's happening and what needs to be done. Location of this meeting will be announced shortly.
  • Start talking to everyone in town about donating items for the silent auction at the Twilight T-Dance. Proceeds will benefit the Emergency Fund of the CARE Network at Queen of the Valley Medical Center, which assists those with HIV/AIDS, Cancer and other chronic illnesses. Right now just find folks willing to make donations of items or services. Send their contact information to pride@napavalleyunityleague.org and we'll contact them to get the details and pick up their donations.
Have questions or ideas? Contact the committee at pride@napavalleyunityleague.org

It is going to be fabulous . . . if you're there and involved!

  1. Just wanted to let everyone know - the planning meeting will be Monday, March 30 from 7-9 pm at Taylor's Refresher at the Oxbow Marketplace (644 First Street) in Napa. We'll be meeting at the big table in the back corner of the restaurant. See you there!

  2. I am willing to donate some wine for the Silent Auction. The thing is that I am a minor, well underage for an alcoholic beverage, and the wine is under my step fathers possession. He might not agree on the donation but I will try my best. Another thing, I don't think I will be able to make it to the meeting so I was hoping that there might be information posted on how well the meeting went?

  3. We'll post any notes that get sent our way, Anonymous. Also, Rick (his email is in the original post) would be good to contact, so if you email him, he'll be sure and keep you in the loop.

  4. Anonymous. Please don't do anything that could get you and others into legal trouble. If you can't get a parent to donate the wine, leave it alone and find some other 100% legal way to help out. While your heart is in the right place, remember there are a few out there who want to make us look bad, and corrupting young people is one of their favorite scare tactics.
