There are two ways (at least) to subscribe to the Valley's Other Fruit:
1. email subscription
2. feed
To subscribe to the Valley's Other Fruit by email:
Pros: most people already know how email works
Cons: less interactive, updates delayed to only once a day, very "1998", updates might get lost mixed in with all your Banana Republic ads and Penis Enhancement junk mail
- Make sure you are visiting us at our actual webpage, http://lgbtnapa.blogspot.com/
- Find the box in the sidebar, labeled "The Other Fruit Via Email" enter your email address and click Subscribe.
- A pop-up from "feedburner" will come up asking you to type in some letters in a grey box. (This is called a CAPTCHA and makes sure that you are a real, live human asking for the subscription.) Type the letters in and click "Complete Subscription".
- Once submitted, you should get an email from Feedburner
asking you to click a link to confirm that you really did ask for this subscription. Once you click and it goes through, you'll start getting the updates from us once a day (if and when we post). - If you don't seem to be getting anything, make sure that we aren't going into your spam or junk mail folder. Mail will be coming via "gaynapa@gmail.com" or "emailenfuego.net".
Pros: almost instant updates, pulls in posts with all the other blogs you read, cutting-edge
Cons: more complicated if you don't know how to use a blog reader, you'll miss out on the comments people post unless you click through
- To subscribe via feed, you need to have a feed reader, oddly enough. Click here for a listing of readers and reviews. My fave is google reader. It's quick to start if you already have a google account. Click here for a well explained overview.
- Again, from the webpage, find the feed icon (either in the browser's toolbar OR in the page itself). Click on it.
- Clicking the icon or link should take you to a page where you can view the feed and have options on how to subscribe to which reader, etc. Alternatively, copy the link from the feed icon and paste it into your reader.
- As items are posted, they will show up as "new articles" under the blog title in your reader. No need to visit the blog site, just read through new posts like they're email.
